The fifth and final day of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2025 at Rama University concluded with a deep sense of academic fulfillment and professional inspiration. The day was marked by two enriching sessions led by esteemed academic leaders and a reaffirmation of the commitment to research, innovation, and ethical practice in healthcare and education.
The day commenced with a warm and insightful welcome address by Prof. Vipin A, Head of the Department of Child Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing. He extended his heartfelt greetings to the dignitaries, speakers, faculty members, and participants, and emphasized the importance of academic development, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing through platforms such as the FDP.
Following this, Prof. Dr. Minu S. R, Vice-Principal, formally introduced the keynote speaker of the first session, setting the tone for an intellectually engaging day.
The first lecture of the day, titled “Inter-disciplinary and Collaborative Research,” was delivered by Dr. Rupa Ashok Verma, who brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the session.
Dr. Rupa Verma began by discussing the pressing need for collaboration across disciplines in order to tackle the increasingly complex challenges faced in healthcare, research, and education. She highlighted that integrating expertise from nursing, medicine, engineering, and management can lead to more effective and innovative solutions.
Successful interdisciplinary collaboration in research is rooted in mutual respect and open communication among professionals from diverse fields, allowing for the free exchange of ideas and perspectives. A shared vision and common research goals are essential to align efforts and ensure cohesive progress throughout the project. By adopting integrated methodologies, teams can effectively address complex, multifaceted issues that go beyond the scope of any single discipline, ultimately leading to more innovative and impactful outcomes.
Her talk inspired participants to break traditional academic boundaries and seek collaborative opportunities that can enhance both research outcomes and real-world impact.
The second session began with a formal introduction of the guest speaker by Prof. S. Sumiya, Head of the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Rama University who highlighted Dr. Alka Saxena’s distinguished contributions to nursing education and research.
Dr. Alka Saxena’s lecture, titled “Evidence-Based Practice and Ethical Consideration,” provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of how evidence informs clinical practice and the ethical responsibilities that underpin research.
The session on Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) and Ethical Consideration provided a comprehensive overview of the systematic process involved in EBP implementation—beginning with the formulation of a clinical question, followed by evidence search, critical appraisal, application of findings, and outcome evaluation. Emphasis was placed on the vital role of clinical guidelines and systematic reviews as tools to standardize care and enhance patient outcomes. Her session offered a practical roadmap for incorporating EBP in academic and clinical settings while maintaining high ethical standards. It empowered participants to become advocates of responsible, evidence-driven healthcare practices.
The final day of FDP 2025 ended on a positive and motivating note, with participants reflecting on the week-long journey of intellectual growth and collaborative learning. Feedback from participants echoed appreciation for the diversity of topics, quality of resource persons, and the interactive nature of the sessions. The program successfully achieved its objective of equipping faculty with contemporary knowledge and skills necessary to lead academic and research excellence in their fields.
The Faculty Development Program 2025 not only strengthened academic foundations but also ignited a shared vision for innovation, collaboration, and integrity in research and practice. With minds united and goals aligned, the participants left with a sense of purpose to transform education and healthcare through thoughtful inquiry and ethical responsibility.
