Three-Day Anti-Ragging Awareness Drive by Free Legal Aid Cell, FJS
The Free Legal Aid Cell of the Faculty of Juridical Sciences (FJS), Rama University, Kanpur, successfully organized a Three-Day Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme from 04 February 2026 to 06 February 2026, under the guidance of Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean, FJS.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness among university students about the ill effects of ragging, its legal consequences, and its psychological, social, and academic impact. Recognizing ragging as a serious offense and a violation of human dignity, the initiative emphasized the need for a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment.
The programme was actively conducted by law students with the support of Ms. Riddhi Tripathi (HoD) and Ms. Sneha Tripathi (Assistant Professor & Programme Coordinator), who played a vital role in planning and execution.
The key objectives of the Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme were:
- To educate students about the meaning, forms, and consequences of ragging.
- To create awareness regarding UGC Regulations and legal provisions related to anti-ragging.
- To inform students about the psychological, emotional, and academic impact of ragging on victims.
- To promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive university environment.
- To encourage students to report ragging incidents without fear and to understand the available grievance redressal mechanisms.
Under the coordination of Dr. Kaneez Fatima and Mr. Rahul Singh (Free Legal Aid Cell Coordinators), on the first day, law students conducted awareness interactions across various areas of the university campus. Students were briefed on the concept of ragging, its various forms including physical, verbal, psychological, and cyber ragging, and the reasons for its strict prohibition. Informal and interactive discussions were held to actively engage students and address their doubts regarding anti-ragging policies and regulations.
The second day focused on the legal framework against ragging. Students were made aware of the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations, institutional disciplinary measures, and the punishments prescribed under law. Real-life examples and case references were discussed to help students understand the seriousness of the offense and its long-term consequences.
On the final day, emphasis was laid on the impact of ragging on mental health, academic performance, and personal development. Students were informed about support systems, helplines, and university-level grievance redressal mechanisms. The programme concluded with an appeal to students to actively contribute to maintaining a ragging-free and harmonious campus.

The Three-Day Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme was a meaningful and impactful initiative by the Free Legal Aid Club, FJS, Rama University. The active involvement of law students played a crucial role in sensitizing the university community about the dangers of ragging and the importance of maintaining a safe academic environment. The programme reaffirmed the university’s commitment to zero tolerance towards ragging and to safeguarding student welfare.
