As part of the ongoing celebration of International Nurses Week 2025, the Faculty of Nursing at Rama University marked Day 3 with an inspiring and thought-provoking event titled “Open Mic Stories: Why I Am a Nurse.” Held on May 8, 2025, this event brought together the voices of passionate nursing students who shared their personal journeys, motivations, and dedication to the nursing profession.
Program Highlights
The event commenced at 10:00 AM in the Smart Classroom of the Faculty of Nursing. The program was inaugurated formally with a warm welcome by the organizing team. The dignified presence of faculty members, students, and the esteemed judges set the tone for a motivational and engaging session.
A total of 16 participants from various nursing streams B.Sc Nursing, GNM, and ANM enthusiastically took part in the open mic competition. Each participant was allotted five minutes to present their personal stories and experiences under the theme "Why I Am a Nurse."The judging panel evaluated the speeches based on the following criteria:Language proficiency, Confidence level, Audibility, Content relevance and impact.
Each participant brought forth their unique narrative, highlighting their compassion, resilience, and calling to serve humanity through nursing. From heartwarming childhood inspirations to stories of overcoming adversity, the speeches captivated the audience and served as a testament to the selfless spirit of nursing.
Closing and Acknowledgments
Following the series of speeches, the judges deliberated and selected the winners who exhibited exceptional expression and alignment with the competition’s theme. Their names were applauded by peers and faculty alike.
The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Principal of the Faculty of Nursing, who appreciated the dedication of the participants, the effort of the organizers, and the enthusiasm of the audience. She emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the voices of future nurses, especially during Nurses Week.
Conclusion
The Day 3 event of the Nurses Week celebration was not only a platform for healthy competition but also a space for emotional expression and peer encouragement. It reflected the core values of nursing empathy, dedication, and purpose and left the audience deeply inspired.
