YUVA SAMVAD 2026 Expert Dialogue Promotes Awareness and Commitment Towards a Ragging-Free Campus

The Faculty of Juridical Sciences (FJS), Rama University, Kanpur, organised “Yuva Samvad 2026 – An Expert Dialogue on Anti-Ragging” on 13 August 2026 at the FJS Seminar Hall, Vice Chancellor Building, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The programme was organised with the objective of sensitising students about the seriousness of ragging, its legal and institutional consequences, preventive mechanisms, and the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean, Faculty of Juridical Sciences. He welcomed the distinguished guest, university dignitaries, faculty members and students and highlighted the importance of creating a safe, disciplined and student-friendly academic environment. He emphasised that awareness, preventive measures and collective responsibility are essential for ensuring a ragging-free campus.
Following the welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) R. K. Yadav, Controller of Examinations, Rama University, addressed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of discipline, academic integrity and responsible conduct among students. He also emphasised that students must be aware of institutional rules and procedures and contribute positively towards maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
Thereafter, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dean Academics, Rama University, addressed the students and emphasised the University's commitment to student welfare, discipline and a positive academic environment. He encouraged students to maintain mutual respect and dignity and to actively support institutional efforts towards preventing ragging.
The distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Anil K. Singh, Divisional Commandant, Home Guards, Kanpur Division, then interacted with the students and delivered an insightful address on anti-ragging, its consequences and preventive measures.
Mr. Anil K. Singh apprised the students of the seriousness of ragging and explained its legal, social and institutional consequences. He emphasised that ragging is not merely an act of indiscipline but may have serious consequences for the dignity, safety and well-being of students.
He further discussed the importance of discipline, responsible behaviour, mutual respect and responsible citizenship. He sensitised students about the mechanisms available for the prevention and redressal of ragging and encouraged them to report incidents responsibly and support their peers in maintaining a safe and respectful campus.
The interactive session provided students with practical insights into the consequences of ragging and encouraged them to become active stakeholders in creating a ragging-free, safe and inclusive educational environment.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Riddhi Tripathi, Head of Department, Faculty of Juridical Sciences. She expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Anil K. Singh for sharing his valuable insights and interacting with the students. She also conveyed appreciation to the university dignitaries, faculty members, organising team and students for their active participation and contribution to the successful conduct of the programme.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Rama University, Kanpur, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a ragging-free, safe, inclusive and student-friendly campus environment and strengthening its continuing efforts towards student awareness, legal literacy, responsible citizenship and campus safety.
