YUVA SANSAD: FOSTERING YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IN DEMOCRATIC DISCOURSE

The Yuva Sansad event held at Rama University, Kanpur in collaboration with Hindustan Newspaper was an enriching experience that provided a platform for students to engage in meaningful discourse on pertinent socio-political issues. The event featured spirited debates on the topics and students demonstrated a commendable understanding of complex political issues and presented well-researched arguments, fostering a stimulating intellectual environment making the event an academic success.
Yuva Sansad, meaning 'Youth Parliament', was organized with emphasis on the theme of ‘Impact of Digital India’ aimed to simulate the workings of a parliamentary session, providing students with an opportunity to voice their opinions, debate, and deliberate on various topics of national concern and importance. The event comprised several rounds of debates, discussions fostering critical thinking, enhancing communication skills, and political engagement among student participants.
The event benefited from the participation of esteemed guest speaker Mr. Ashish Tripathi, the Editor of Hindustan newspaper and a subject matter expert who provided valuable insights and guidance to participants. Other esteemed dignitaries included Dr. Prateek Singh, Director, Rama University, Dr. Brajendra Nigam, Principal, Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Dr. Vaishali Dhingra, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, and Dr. Aneeta Yadav, Dean, Student Welfare, Rama University. Their presence added depth to the discussions and inspired students to delve deeper into the issues at hand.
The success of Yuva Sansad can be attributed to meticulous planning and coordination by faculty members, Dr. Sadhana Trivedi, Dr. Ashish Srivastava, other faculty members, and student organizers. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across diverse disciplines, reflecting their eagerness to actively engage in the democratic process. Through their active involvement, participants demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility towards addressing contemporary issues and contributing to societal progress.
