63rd National Pharmacy Week Celebrated with the Theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacy”

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Rama Institute of Pharmacy at Rama University, Kanpur, successfully hosted the 63rd National Pharmacy Week (NPW) on November 23, 2024. This year’s theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacy,” highlighted the pivotal role of pharmacists as healthcare professionals beyond dispensing medicines.
The event took place in the Seminar Hall of the VC Building and featured a series of engaging activities, thought-provoking sessions, and creative competitions aimed at promoting awareness about the significance of pharmacists in healthcare.
Inaugural Ceremony and Keynote Address
The day commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Jain, Dean of Pharmacy, Rama University, and the Keynote Speaker, Mr. Sushil Giri, Associate Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences (FPHS). The ceremony began with a floral welcome for the dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment in the pharmacy field.
In her opening address, Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Jain highlighted the evolving role of pharmacists in improving healthcare. She emphasized the importance of proactive contributions by future professionals and acknowledged the dedication and hard work of those in the pharmacy profession.
Mr. Sushil Giri, in his keynote speech, elaborated on the critical role pharmacists play in ensuring medication safety and improving patient outcomes. He urged students to recognize the integral part they play in bridging the gap between doctors and patients, thereby enhancing healthcare delivery.
Interactive Sessions and Activities
A Flash Talk session was held, where pharmacy students passionately discussed the challenges faced by pharmacists and shared insights on the values of punctuality, dedication, and resilience in the profession. The session encouraged students to view themselves as equal partners with doctors in healthcare delivery.
Tree Plantation Drive was also organized, promoting health awareness and preventive healthcare practices. This initiative highlighted the importance of environmental health and social responsibility among students and faculty members.
Rangoli Competition brought a creative touch to the event as students prepared intricate designs on the ground floor of the faculty premises, symbolizing positivity and the essence of pharmacy’s role in healthcare.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Goldee Yadav, Associate Professor, FPHS, appreciating the efforts and dedication of all participants.
