A brief report at “CSIR- Central Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow”

Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology has organized an industrial visit for CSIR- Central Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow, on 14th December, 2022. The visit was conducted for motivating the students and developing the industrial skills among them. All students of M.Sc., B.Sc. and B.Tech. (Biotechnology) has participated in the visit.During the visit, students came across with the varieties of plants including medicinal plants (Aloevera, Ashwagandha, Guggul, Gangatulsi, Brahmi, Aloe perryi and Mulethi), aromatic plants (Mint, Geranium oil, Kush oil, Lemon grass and Camphor) and also some processes involved in distillation, menthane oil extraction, chromatographic units, rose water extraction, instrumentation, extract collection unit, experimental and research labs of campus, several product manufacturing units and many more innovative technologies explained by the renowned faculties over there. The director of the Institute, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi and Dr. R.K Srivastava, Principal Scientist also addressed the students, andoffered the opportunity tostudents forproject work in near future. It was a very successful industrial visit which strengthened the industrial skills of the students.These industrial visit opportunities should be increased in future for the scientific exposure of students in the near future.
The event was made successful by the effort of Prof.(Dr). Ajay Kumar (Head of Department) and Mrs. Pooja Singh (Assistant professor).
