Aarogya Setu-The fight against COVID-19

The ministry of electronics and IT launched a mobile app called AarogyaSetu which will help people in identifying the risk of getting affected by the CoronaVirus.
This mobile application developed by the Government of India connects essential health services with the people of India in our combined fight against COVID-19. The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19. This app version is compatible with android 6 and above.
The app is built through public-private partnership "assesses themselves the risk for their catching the Corona Virus infection. It will calculate this based on their interaction with others, using cutting edge Bluetooth technology, algorithms, and artificial intelligence," an official statement said.
Once installed on a smartphone, the app detects other nearby devices with AarogyaSetu installed. The app can then calculate the risk of infection based on sophisticated parameters if any of these contacts are tested positive.
"The App will help the Government take necessary timely steps for assessing the risk of spread of COVID-19 infection, and ensuring isolation where required, it said.
This is how it works
Ayogya Setu App alerts the user when he/she comes in contact with a corona infected person. This app sends this alert by tracking the user's Bluetooth connection and mobile number.
How to download and use
You can download the Arogya Setu App Arogya Setu App by visiting the Google Play Store. However, make sure you download the official and correct app that has been published by NIC.
- To use it, you must first register your phone number.
- Once you enter the phone number, you’ll receive an OTP. Enter it to complete registration.
- After this, you will have to grant some permissions which include your GPS location access.
- As soon as you register, it asks for your personal information, including your name, gender, age, occupation, and 30-day travel history.
- After this, you can choose your desired language.
