Celebrating National Periodontist Day: Rama University, Kanpur Honors Dental Health

on February 23rd, 2024, in homage to the Indian Society of Periodontology's (ISP) registration as a non-profit organization under state laws in 1975, the event aimed to bolster understanding and appreciation for periodontal science among the public.
Coordinated by department faculty including Prof. & Head Dr Janardhana Amaranth BJ, Dr Shruti Gupta, Dr Lynn Johnson & Dr Neelam Das, the program orchestrated a multifaceted approach to raise awareness.
The day saw a flurry of activities geared towards educating patients on periodontal disease prevention and its consequential impacts on systemic health. Street plays, known as "nukkad natak," performed by undergraduates and dental hygienist students, captivated audiences across Rama University's vicinity.
Postgraduate students took to the streets, distributing informational pamphlets and toothpaste, while also conducting screening dental camps. As a testament to their commitment to community well-being, the department offered free oral prophylaxis to patients throughout the day.
With a resounding success, the National Periodontist Day 2024 fulfilled its objective of enlightening and motivating the public about the critical role of oral and periodontal health in achieving overall well-being. The event underscored the importance of proactive measures in preserving dental health for a healthier tomorrow.
