Dept. of Biotechnology organized Academic Tour to FFDC

The Academic Tour for Skill And Entrepreneurship Development was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering, Rama University, Kanpur for the fragrance and flavor development center (FFDC), Kannauj on 18th February 2020.
Biotechnology Students of Rama University learned the global scope and development of fragrance and flavor. Students have understood the functioning and basic principle of analytical instruments like Gas chromatography, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy for the quality control of perfumery. Additionally, students also visited the Steam Distillation Unit, Hydrogenation unit, fraction unit for the extraction of aroma compounds.
In the Agritech unit, they learned the cultivation of different aromatic and medicinal crops and subsequently visited the plant tissue culture lab. They have understood the role of biotechnology to enhance the aromaticity of plants using plant biotechnology.
