Event-Extension & Outreach Activity on “World Earth Day”

After all a healthy Mother Earth is the legacy which we can pass on to our future generations. The young students of Faculty of Commerce and Management not only pledged to save upon the Earth but they also disseminated this message among the school kids of various primary schools of Kanpur. It’s imperative to make the criticality of the hour understood by the young generation of the country so that they may not commit the same mistakes as the previous generation did and become more sensitive to towards the conservation of environment.
The extension and Outreach activity on the occasion of “World Earth Day 2022- ‘Invest in Our Planet’, was conceptualized to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and taking act and it was materialized in the form of a visit of FCM students to BPMG Inter College Mandhana, Kanpur and a few primary schools on April 22, 2022. 500 Holy Basil plants, known as the Queen of Herbs due to its therapeutic qualities were distributed to the students, teachers and the residents of Kukradev village.
The students delivered speeches on conservation of Mother Earth and how to protect its sanctity. Message was widely disseminated among the young school children that we must plant trees, keep wet waste and dry waste separate in order to make way for easy decomposition. We should try to implement the rule of 3 R’s, that is re-use, re-cycle and reduce. The children were also urged to create their own oxygen bank by planting a few trees. The event culminated into planting of a few trees in the premises of the school and the students took a pledge to do take initiative to plant the trees in school and houses and nurture them with love and care.
Dean, Prof. Vaishali Dhingra expressed that Earth is very sacred; we need to worship its bounties rather than exploiting them.
About the Extension & Outreach Activity:
This extension activity was successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. Manish Dhingra, Dean (R & D), Dr. Indu Shukla, HOD, FCM. & Faculty Coordinators - Mr. Devendra Singh Bagga & Ms.Nisha Nancy Daniel, Mr. Munindra Prakash Shakya and Mr. Yash Gupta, the Student Coordinator.
