Expert Lecture on Biotechnology in Biomedical Research

An Industrial expert lecture was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Faculty of Science, Rama University, Kanpur on “Biotechnology in Biomedical Research: Ethics and Regulations” on 6th April 2019. The esteemed speaker of the event was Dr. Virendra Tiwari, Assistant Director-Business Development GLP Services, Dabur Research Foundation. The aim of this lecture was to provide an overview and workflow of ethics and regulations in industries working on manufacturing of Biotechnology, Biomedical, Food and Pharmaceutical products. Dr. Tiwari, during his talk, covered the role of different regulatory bodies in Pharmaceutical GMP, GCP, the workflow of safety report processing, importance and applications of aggregated safety reporting. Additionally, he also covered all the safety measures from product manufacturing to product launch in above-mentioned sectors. A total of 150 Biotechnology and Pharmacy students were benefitted by this lecture. This lecture provided ample opportunities to students for discussion with the speaker and also opened a gateway to enter in industrial organizations. This event was organized by the combined efforts of all the faculty members of Department and chaired by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Head, Department of Biotechnology. Furthermore, Dr. Hari Om Sharan, Dean, FET also extended his full-support in organizing this lecture- session.
