Faculty of Nursing at RAMA University Celebrates International Day of the Midwife 2023

The Nursing Faculty of Rama University participated in a number of events to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife on May 5, 2023, with the theme "Together again: from evidence to reality." The occasion gave midwives a chance to celebrate their career path of work and recognize their essential role in promoting the health of expectant mothers and newborns.
The program started with an opening note by B. Archana, HOD of Community Health Nursing, followed by an informative presentation by Mrs. Deeksha, lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, emphasizing the significance of International Day of the Midwife.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing organized various competitions for students, including poster presentation, essay writing, rangoli, and photography, all related to the theme. After a logical evaluation by the jury members, the winners of the competitions were awarded certificates and medals. GNM students performed a skit highlighting the importance and role of midwives in day-to-day life. The event was attended by 300 members and concluded with a vote of thanks and the national anthem.
International Day of the Midwife is celebrated worldwide every year on May 5th. This day acknowledges the valuable work of midwives who provide women with essential support, care, and advice during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. Midwives play a significant role in ensuring the safety and well-being of both the mother and child.
Rama University's Faculty of Nursing recognizes the importance of midwives and their contribution to maternal and newborn health. Through this event, the department aimed to celebrate the role of midwives and promote awareness of their work among students and the broader community.
