FJS (Law) organized Jail Visit for educational purpose

Law Students with the collaboration of Legal Aid Clinic of Rama University Kanpur visited Model Jail Lucknow, Mohanlalganj, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. A group of 22 students along with faculties visited the jail.
The visit provided a great opportunity to understand the functioning of the jail. As per the report, there are almost 70 jails in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The law students and faculties departed from Rama University campus at 11:00 AM and reached the jail premises by 2:30 PM along with Faculty-in-Charge Mr. Jay Prakash Shrivastava Asst. Prof. and Ms.Anjali Dixit, Asst. Prof., Faculty of Juridical Science of Rama University, Kanpur.
At around 2:45 PM the team went inside the premises of jail after completing the formalities. Thereafter, they visited the Control Room of the jail where they met Jail Superintendent of the Model Jail. There was an interactive session on the concept of jail and jailor, various myths and facts associated, and also the history of Model Jail, Lucknow.
After this discussion session student were divided into two groups- Boys and Girls to visit male prison cell and female prison cells respectively. In the women’s department of jail, they saw the different facilities including Beauty Parlour, teaching room, worshiping room, etc. The surrounding of jail was very neat and clean; many facilities were provided to them for their upkeep and maintenance. In the male department of jail, there were a number of facilities including recreational activities to foster their mental, physical and cultural developments. There was a separate room for co-curricular activities including Music, painting, etc
The jail-visit taught students all the facets of the prison-management and conditions.
