Free Dental Screening & Treatment Camp Organized by Rama University's Faculty of Dental Sciences in Kanpur

A free screening and treatment camp was arranged by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Rama University's Faculty of Dental Sciences, Kanpur, in collaboration with the "Ashok Masala Group" (Kalyani Trust), indicating a remarkable advancement in oral health awareness and care. Under the knowledgeable direction of the department head, Dr. Nidhi Shukla, this wonderful project was carried out at Chacha Nehru Intercollege, Majhavan, Kanpur, on October 29, 2023.
During this camp, a total of 75 patients underwent comprehensive tests, and 15 patients received necessary initial treatments. The department treated patients who needed urgent care on-site by using a mobile dental van that was fully furnished and operational. Referrals to Rama Dental College and Hospital were made for those in need of more sophisticated care.
In addition to treatments, the camp also focused on health education as we were also educated about the dangers of tobacco use, and correct brushing techniques were demonstrated using informative charts and models.
The camp was executed by a dedicated team of five doctors, comprising one faculty member, two postgraduate students, and two interns. The efficient coordination of Mr. Subramanyam, Liason Officer, ensured the smooth operation of the camp. Patients were examined by Dr. Vaibhav Bansal (Reader), Dr. Akash (PG 3rd year), Dr. Francis (PG 3rd year), Dr. Shreya Shrivastav (Intern), and Dr. Akansha Gupta (Intern).
The success of this initiative did not go unnoticed, as it was covered and published by various newspapers, including Danik Jagran, Amar Ujala and Hindustan, further spreading the message of oral health awareness and the commendable efforts of Rama University's Faculty of Dental Sciences.
