Free Legal Awareness Drive on Health Law

On November 23, 2024, the Free Legal Aid of Faculty of Juridical Sciences, in collaboration with Rama Ayurvedic Medical College, organized a legal awareness drive on Health Law. The event aimed to educate medical students on their legal responsibilities and obligations within the medical profession. Held at Rama Ayurvedic Medical College, the program commenced at 10:30 AM with an introduction to the organizing members and a structured discussion on critical aspects of health-related laws.
Key Highlights of the Drive
The drive focused on the basic concepts of Health Law, drawing from legislative frameworks and judicial precedents. The event featured insights from experts and participants:
- Mental Health Act: Ms. Riddhi Tripathi elaborated on the Mental Health Act, emphasizing its role in promoting mental well-being and ensuring accessible mental health care services.
- Prohibition of Child Labour Act: Dr. Kaneez Fatima and Ms. Sneha Tripathi discussed the evolution of the Prohibition of Child Labour Act, from its enactment in 1986 to its strengthening under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act in 2016.
- Legal Awareness in Society: Student Coordinators Priyanshi Singh, Mrinal Shankar, and Shekhar Srivastva underscored the importance of fostering legal awareness among medical professionals to create a more informed and responsible society.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students shared their queries and concerns about the practical application of these laws in their professional journey. This initiative successfully bridged the gap between law and medicine, empowering future healthcare providers with essential legal knowledge.
