International Nurses Week Celebration 2024 at Rama University

Kanpur, May 11, 2024 - The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University celebrated International Nurses Week with a series of events highlighting the significant contributions of nurses to healthcare and the economy. Under the theme "Our Nurses. Our Future. The Economic Power of Care," the celebration culminated in a vibrant program on May 11th from 10 AM to 12 PM in the seminar hall.
The week-long festivities began on May 7th with a quiz competition, followed by a poster presentation on May 9th. The main event on May 11th featured a range of cultural activities, including role plays, group dances, and a fashion show, all performed by the nursing students.
The celebration kicked off with a warm welcome to all guests and faculty members, followed by an inauguration and lamp lighting ceremony. The event commenced with a welcome speech and an invocation dance (Ganesh Vandana) by B.Sc. Semester-IV students, setting a spiritual and enthusiastic tone for the day.
Prof. Dr. Jasmi Manu, Principal of the Faculty of Nursing, delivered an engrossing and motivational presidential speech. Her words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the critical role of nurses in healthcare. This was followed by an inspiring address by Mrs. K. Jyothisree, Associate Professor in the Department of Adult Health Nursing (AHN), who spoke eloquently about the theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. The Economic Power of Care."
The cultural segment saw nursing students showcasing their talents through various performances. The role play, fashion show, and group dance were not only entertaining but also highlighted the camaraderie and creativity among the students.
In addition to the performances, outstanding students were recognized for their excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. The winners of the quiz competition and poster presentation were awarded prizes, celebrating their knowledge and creativity.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by T. Monika Devi, Lecturer in the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing (FON), followed by the national anthem. The day served as a poignant reminder of the invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare and the importance of appreciating their efforts.
International Nurses Day, celebrated globally on May 12th, commemorates the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. This celebration at Rama University not only honoured the legacy of Nightingale but also highlighted the economic and social impact of nurses today.
