Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony: Welcoming Novice Nurses to the Nursing Profession

The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University recently organized and celebrated the 15th batch Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony. The event, held on February 14th, 2023, marked the initiation of B.Sc (N), GNM, and ANM students into the noble profession of nursing. The ceremony pays tribute to Florence Nightingale, also known as the Lady with the Lamp, and signifies the students' firm commitment to caring for the sick and wounded.
The event, held in the Rama University auditorium, was attended by a number of distinguished guests. The program began with the welcoming of the novice nurses, followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest, Prof. Rossily Nirmal, Principal of Sahara College of Nursing. Dr. Prateek Singh, Director of Rama University, Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, Registrar of Rama University, and several other faculty
After the invocation song, Mrs. Jasmi Manu, Principal of the Faculty of Nursing, delivered inspirational words to the new nurses, followed by Mrs. Anjani Devi, HOD of Mental Health Nursing Department, who shared the significance of the Lamp Lighting Day in the nursing profession. Dr. Hari Om Sharan, Dean of Academic Affairs at Rama University, and Prof. Rossily Nirmal also offered words of advice to the students.
The event also included graceful cultural programs by the students, emphasizing the unity in diversity and the role of nurses in the modern era. The Chief Guest, Prof. Rossily Nirmal, and Prof. Jasmi Manu, Principal of the Faculty of Nursing, distributed meritorious achievement awards to the brilliant students of B.Sc Nursing, GNM, and ANM who excelled in their academics and made their parents and college proud.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mrs. S. Sumiya, Associate Professor, HOD of Fundamental Nursing Department. The event ended with the singing of the National Anthem and adjourned at 3.30 pm.
Overall, the 15th batch Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony at Rama University was a memorable and inspiring occasion. It marked the beginning of a new journey for the nursing students who have committed themselves to serve humanity with love and dedication. The event also celebrated the legacy of Florence Nightingale and recognized the achievements of the talented students who are the future of the nursing profession.
