Maharishi Charaka Jayanti Mahotsav Celebrated at Rama Ayurvedic Medical College

Kanpur, August 9, 2024: The Maharishi Charaka Jayanti Mahotsav, commemorating the birth anniversary of Acharya Charaka, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Rama Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Mandhana, Kanpur. The event, held on August 9th, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, was organized by the Faculty of Ayurveda of Rama University in accordance with the guidelines of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
The day-long program began with a prayer and lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the offering of Pushpanjali to Maharishi Charaka’s portrait and Charaka Samhita by Prof. Dr. Guru Prasad K, Principal and Head of the Department of Swasthawritha. The event featured an online guest lecture, various competitions, and a valedictory ceremony, all coordinated by Dr. K. Deepak Raja, Associate Professor, Department of Kriya Sharira.
The online guest lecture by Prof. Dr. GRR Chakravarthy from Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College, Chennai, focused on the "Importance of Charaka Samhita," emphasizing the timeless relevance of Charaka's teachings in modern Ayurveda. Various competitions, including Sloka Patan, a Pencil Sketch Competition, a Painting Competition, a Debate, and a Poster Presentation, showcased the talents and knowledge of the students.
The valedictory ceremony concluded the event with awards and certificates distributed to the competition winners. The celebration concluded with an oath-taking ceremony, where students and faculty reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of Ayurveda as taught by Maharishi Charaka.
