Rama University's Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries set a shining example of eco-consciousness on April 21, 2023, as they commemorated World Earth Day with a dynamic Extension Outreach Programme. The event, filled with engaging activities, aimed to promote sustainable practices and raise awareness about environmental conservation, setting the stage for a greener future.
A key highlight of the event was the plantation of Moringa plants, known for their medicinal properties and ecological benefits. Dignitaries and experts joined forces to plant these valuable trees in the university premises, spreading awareness about their health benefits and their positive impact on the environment.
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries students took the initiative to raise awareness and make a difference in the university' adopted villages. They planted a variety of plants, with a focus on Moringa trees, to inform the villagers about the value of sustainable practices for a healthy future.
In addition to the plantation drive, the students also emphasized on Integrated Nutrient Management techniques to restore soil fertility and effective farm waste management techniques. They distributed eco-friendly bags as an alternative to polyethylene bags alongside, The students educated and encouraged villagers to switch to jute or cotton bags, highlighting the benefits of using eco-friendly materials for a cleaner, greener planet.
