Poshak Aahar Vitran (Round 15) to TB Patients at UHTC Navsheel Dhaam

In the ongoing commitment to combat Tuberculosis (TB) and ensure the well-being of patients, the Department of Community Medicine at Rama Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (RMCHRC) organized the distribution of nutritious meals, termed as "Poshak Aahar Vitran," to 11 adopted TB patients at Urban Health Training Center (UHTC) Navsheel Dhaam.
Following the guidelines of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and in reference to previous communications, 11 TB patients were adopted by RMCHRC. On January 23, 2024, the distribution of nutritious meals was conducted for the remaining 5 TB patients under the program.
The event took place at UHTC Department of Community Medicine Navsheeldham RMCH & RC Kanpur, under the guidance of Dr. Proff. Anju Gahlot, Professor & HOD of the Department of Community Medicine.
Dr. Poonam Kushwaha, Assistant Professor, welcomed and engaged with the TB patients present, discussing their treatment progress and health status. Patients were encouraged to share any side effects experienced due to anti-TB drugs, and were advised about the importance of regular diagnostic tests conducted at the TB centre.
During the event, thorough examinations including weight checks were conducted for all patients, enabling the medical team to monitor their well-being and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Additionally, patients' medication adherence, dietary habits, and hygiene practices were monitored to ensure comprehensive care.
Among the dignitaries present were Dr. R. P. Gupta (M.O. UHTC), Dr. Poonam Kushwaha (Assistant Professor), Dr. Lakshmi Singh (SR), and Interns from the Department of Community Medicine RMCHRC Kanpur.
This initiative underscores RMCHRC's commitment to providing holistic care and support to TB patients, contributing towards the goal of eliminating Tuberculosis from our communities.
