MoU-Driven Community Initiative for Oral Health Awareness
As part of the ongoing collaboration under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Periodontology, Rama Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre, and the Jan Jagriti Seva Samiti (JJSS), a Free Dental Health Camp was successfully organized on 7th August 2025 at Ram Janki Inter College, Bithoor, Kanpur. The initiative aimed to spread awareness, encourage preventive oral care, and facilitate early detection of oral and periodontal diseases among students and staff.
Comprehensive Screening, Counselling, and Educational Sessions
The event featured:

Periodontal Screening and Diagnosis – A team of postgraduate students and faculty from the Department of Periodontology conducted detailed oral and periodontal examinations, distributing toothpaste and educational pamphlets to participants.

Preventive Counselling – Attendees received one-on-one counselling on effective oral hygiene practices, risk factor awareness, preventive strategies, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.

Oral Health Awareness Session – An engaging educational session, led by Dr. Anishka Dhanai, Senior Lecturer, Department of Periodontology, focused on the link between oral hygiene and overall health. The session fostered interaction between faculty and students, discussing challenges and opportunities in community oral health promotion.
Impact: Over 350 Students and Staff Benefitted
The camp received an enthusiastic response, with approximately 350 students and staff members participating. It provided immediate diagnostic and preventive care while instilling long-term awareness about maintaining oral and periodontal health.
Strengthening Community Healthcare through Collaboration
This initiative reflects the shared vision of Rama University and JJSS to extend healthcare beyond clinical settings and into the community. The success of the camp underscores the vital role of partnerships in improving access to oral healthcare and educating communities on preventive practices.
