Rama Dental College, Kanpur Hosts 1st Year MDS Orientation Program

Kanpur, October 9, 2024 – Rama Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre in Mandhana, Kanpur, recently held an Orientation Program for first-year Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) students. Organized by the Institutional Sports and Cultural Committee, the event took place on October 9, 2024, in the college’s central library and welcomed 51 participants, including both students and faculty.
The orientation aimed to introduce new students to the college’s academic structure, policies, and state-of-the-art facilities, as well as to provide insights into their future studies and specialization paths within the dental field.

Welcome and Introduction to the MDS Program
The event began with an inaugural address by Dr. Asheesh Sawhny, Principal of Rama Dental College. Dr. Suraj B.S Kushwah, Chancellor of Rama University, and Dr. Janardhana Amaranth B.J, Vice Chancellor, also addressed attendees. They emphasized the importance of continuous learning and skill development for postgraduate students. During this session, students were introduced to the MDS program structure, focusing on academic objectives, clinical training, and research opportunities.
Overview of College Policies and Facilities
A subsequent session covered college policies, including attendance, examination requirements, and anti-ragging measures, ensuring a supportive learning environment for all. Students were also introduced to the institution’s clinical training centers, modern laboratories, central library, and advanced research facilities that will play a key role in their academic journey.
Faculty Presentations
Each department head shared insights into their respective specialties, giving students a comprehensive understanding of the specific fields within dentistry. Faculty members also discussed the evolving landscape of the dental profession, advising students on how to prepare for upcoming advancements in their fields.
Q&A Session and Networking
An interactive Q&A session provided students with the opportunity to ask questions about academic expectations, clinical experiences, and career opportunities. The event concluded with a refreshment and networking break, allowing students to connect with faculty and peers in a more informal setting, building camaraderie as they embark on their MDS journey.
