Rama University Supports TB Patients with "Poshak Aahar Vitran" Initiative

The seventh round of "Poshak Aahar Vitran" for tuberculosis (TB) patients was organised by Rama University's Department of Community Medicine at Rama Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) in association with the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC). This programme intends to give TB patients nourishing meals as part of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
On June 16, 2023, at the UHTC at Navsheel Dhaam, a total of 11 TB patients who were adopted by RMCH RC Kanpur received the "Poshak Aahar". The Department of Community Medicine's Head, Dr. Prof. Anju Gahlot, oversaw the event's execution. Dr. Poonam Kushwaha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, Dr. R.P. Gupta, Medical Officer at UHTC, and Dr. Yashi Singh, LMO at UHTC, RMCH RC Kanpur, was among the dignitaries in attendance.
The TB patients were cordially welcomed by Dr. Poonam Kushwaha, who also gave them thorough information on the illness while stressing the significance of finishing the whole course of treatment. She emphasised the value of eating a healthy diet, practising activities like pranayama, and giving the patients instructions on how to prevent the spread of tuberculosis.
Dr. R.P. Gupta addressed the patients, discussing their health concerns, appropriate diet plans, and the importance of adhering to the treatment regimen. He emphasized the need for regular intake of medicines, a healthy diet, and maintaining proper hygiene. Dr. Yashi Singh also interacted with the TB patients, offering words of encouragement and motivation for their treatment journey.
During the event, the patients' weights were checked to assess their overall well-being and determine if any adjustments were required in their treatment plans. Alongside medication monitoring, the patients' adherence to prescribed medicines, healthy dietary habits, and proper hygiene practices were also closely monitored. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Poonam Kushwaha, who expressed gratitude to the UHTC staff members and reaffirmed the commitment of Rama University and its Department of Community Medicine to combatting TB and striving towards its elimination.
Through initiatives like "Poshak Aahar Vitran," Rama University continues to play a vital role in supporting TB patients by providing them with nutritious meals, medical guidance, and a supportive environment for their recovery.
