Rama University's Educational Trip to CPRI Shimla and Manali - A Journey of Learning

Rama University's Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries organized a six-day educational trip for B.Sc. Agriculture 2nd-year students to CPRI Shimla and Manali from May 4 to May 9, 2023.
The aim of the Trip
The aim of the trip was to provide the students with practical exposure to various aspects of agriculture, including meteorological parameters, orchards of temperate fruits, and advanced farming technologies. The students were accompanied by three faculty members, Dr. Ashish Srivastava, Dr. Jitendara Kumar, and Dr. Ravikesh Kumar Pal from the Department of Agriculture. It was promoting hands-on learning and real-world experience and it was designed to help students understand the practical aspects of agriculture.
The Locations Visited
The students visited two picturesque locations - Manali and CPRI Shimla. In Manali, they learned about the different meteorological parameters, such as temperature, pressure, humidity, and snowfall. They also studied various orchards of temperate fruits, including apples, pears, and peaches. After exploring Manali, the students moved to CPRI Shimla, where they learned about advanced farming technologies related to Agriculture Farming. They experienced a documentary on the Advanced Seed technology in TPS (TRUE POTATO SEED) under the guidance of the Director, Dr. Ravindra Singh, and the Senior Scientist, Social Science CPRI Shimla. They also got to learn about the Aeroponics system of seed production of potatoes.
The Outcome of the Trip
The educational trip was a great success, and the students gained valuable knowledge and experience. The students were able to apply their theoretical knowledge and understand the practical aspects of agriculture. They learned about the latest research and advancements in agriculture and gained exposure to advanced farming technologies, which will be helpful in their academic and professional careers. The trip also gave the students an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature and understand the importance of sustainable agriculture.
