Rama University's Faculty of Nursing and Indian Red Cross Society Unite to Make World Blood Donor Day-2023 a Resounding Success

In honor of World Blood Donor Day-2023, the Rama University Faculty of Nursing successfully organized a blood donation day in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society. The purpose of the event, which took place at Onkareswar Saraswathi Shikshanikethan in Jawahar Nagar, Kanpur, was to increase public awareness of the urgent need for safe blood and blood products to support medical procedures and save lives.
The Faculty of Nursing's Principal, Professor Dr. Jasmi Manu, and the Head of the Fundamentals of Nursing Department, Mrs. Sumiya, organised the blood donation day, which was enthusiastically attended by 58 students and 6 faculty members. The event's theme, "Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often," highlighted the importance is the need to donate blood more frequently.
The day began at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome from the Indian Red Cross Society volunteers and Mr. R.K. Saffar, Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society. After enjoying refreshments, the students and faculty underwent a pre-screening process to ensure their eligibility for blood donation. Following the screening, a total of 60 volunteers selflessly donated blood.
The blood donation process preceded smoothly, with no reported health issues among the donors. The event received appreciation from Mr. Vishak G, the District Magistrate of Kanpur, who commended the efforts of the Faculty of Nursing and the Indian Red Cross Society in organizing this meaningful initiative.
Certificates were awarded to the students and faculty members who participated in the blood donation drive, recognizing their invaluable contribution to saving lives. The event successfully empowered voluntary blood donors and highlighted their life-saving contributions, aligning with the primary objective of World Blood Donor Day.
Professor Dr. Jasmi Manu expressed her gratitude towards all the participants and the Indian Red Cross Society for their support in organizing the blood donation drive. She emphasized the significance of such initiatives in meeting the increasing demand for safe blood and blood products in medical treatments and emergencies.
The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University, through this successful blood donation drive, showcased their commitment to promoting the noble cause of voluntary blood donation. They reaffirmed their dedication to raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and its life-saving impact on individuals in need.
As World Blood Donor Day-2023 event came to a close, the Faculty of Nursing and the Indian Red Cross Society joined hands to extend their heartfelt wishes for a healthy and prosperous future. Together, they demonstrated that every individual can be the reason for someone's heartbeat by giving the gift of life through blood donation.
