Supreme Court’s Decision on NEET-UG Results
29 Oct 2021
The Bombay High Court had ordered to afresh the NEET exam for two students, Vaishnavi Bhopali and Abhishek Shivaji, who alleged they were handed question papers and answer sheets incorrectly serial numbers.
The center had moved to the Supreme Court with an appeal saying the NTA can not declare NEET result even if it is ready. Further in its appeal, the central government said that the delay in NEET results would impact undergraduate medical admissions.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court bench of Justices LN Rao, Sanjiv Khanna, and BR Gavai that “total six students were there who faced the same problem.” “The other four did not have a problem. How come only two had a problem and could not finish the paper? Four Students attempted 200 questions. But these two petitioners attempted only 130 questions?” Justice LN Rao asked.
However, the Supreme Court dismissed their petition, saying lakhs of students have appeared in the exam and results cannot be canceled because of some FIRs.
