"Thriving Against the Odds: Expert Insights on Climate Change and Indian Agriculture at Rama University's World Earth Day Celebration"

World Earth Day was celebrated at Rama University with an Expert Lecture on the topic of "Climate Change and its Impact on Indian Agriculture" in collaboration with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries on April 21, 2023. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Munish Kumar, Head of the Department of Soil Conservation and Water Management at CSAUA&T, Kanpur.
The event started with a lamp-lighting ceremony performed by the dignitaries. Dr. Anita Yadav, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries, welcomed the expert by giving him a green plant. Program chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Hari Om Sharan, President of Institution& Innovation Council, Prof. (Dr.) C.S.Raghuvanshi, Innovation Ambassador, Institution Innovation Council, moderator of the session. Dr. Raghvendra Singh, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries, coordinated the event.
During the lecture, Professor Munish Kumar highlighted how climate change affects agriculture in India, with higher temperatures reducing crop yields and increasing weed and pest growth. He emphasized that climate change can disrupt food availability, access to food, and food quality, as projected increases in temperature, changes in precipitation patterns, extreme weather events, and reduced water availability may result in decreased agricultural productivity.
The students found the lecture informative and insightful. Dr. Kartikey Bisen, HoD of FASAI, delivered the vote of thanks. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of conserving natural resources for future generations and safeguarding the environment for a sustainable future.
