World Pharmacist Day Celebrated at Rama University

Kanpur, September 25, 2024 – Rama University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Rama Institute of Pharmacy organized a vibrant celebration for World Pharmacist Day, themed “Pharmacist: Meeting Global Health Needs.” The event aimed to spotlight the pivotal role pharmacists play in healthcare and their contribution to promoting public health worldwide.
Inaugural Ceremony and Event Highlights
The day began with a grand inaugural ceremony at the university's Auditorium Hall. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Watson Vaghela (Head HR, Infotech Pvt. Ltd.), along with Dr. Prateek Singh (Director, Rama University), Prof. (Dr.) Hari Om Sharan (Dean, Academics and Planning), and Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Jain (Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences).
The ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing wisdom and the spread of knowledge, marked the official opening of the event. A captivating Ganesh Vandana dance by students of D.Pharm added a cultural touch, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings.
Key Addresses and Oath Ceremony
In her opening address, Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Jain emphasized the evolving role of pharmacists in addressing global health challenges. She highlighted the profession's growing importance in ensuring patient safety, effective medication use, and bridging the gap between healthcare professionals and the public.
The Pharmacist Oath Ceremony followed, with students reaffirming their dedication to the values of their profession. Mr. Watson Vaghela, during his address, discussed the vital role pharmacists play in healthcare outcomes, stressing their responsibility in ensuring medication safety and patient education.
Cultural Events and Awards
A series of cultural performances showcased the talent and enthusiasm of the students. Competitions, including essay writing, debates, poster presentations, and model-making, were held to encourage participation and recognize academic excellence. Meritorious students were awarded medals, and distinguished faculty members received Letters of Appreciation for their contributions to the pharmacy field.
Health Initiatives and Closing
In line with the theme of health promotion, a Health Check-Up Camp was organized within the Pharmacy Department to raise awareness about preventive healthcare among students and faculty.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Mr. Sushil Giri, Associate Professor, FPHS, reflecting on the success of the event and the dedication of both students and faculty to advancing the pharmacy profession.
