World Population Day 2024 Celebrated at Rama Medical College

On July 11, 2024, the Department of Community Medicine at Rama Medical College, Mandhana, Kanpur, celebrated World Population Day under the guidance of Dr. Anju Gahlot, Head of the Department. The theme for this year was “Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future.”
WHO's Role in Population Health
The World Health Organization (WHO) plays a critical role in addressing various aspects of global population health, including reproductive health, non-communicable diseases, health equity, and women's health. Women are pivotal in nurturing families, driving economies, and shaping the future. Empowering women with access to education, healthcare, and economic resources is crucial for a brighter future for all. Reproductive health and rights are fundamental to women's empowerment. On World Population Day 2024, a recommitment to improving the health of women and children was emphasized.
Objectives of the Celebration
The event focused on several key objectives:

- Raising awareness about the risks of sexually transmitted diseases resulting from unprotected sex.

Health Talks
Dr. Aman Kumar (Associate Professor), Dr. Nilanjan Dam (PG2), and (PG1) delivered insightful health talks.
Poster Presentations and Awareness Campaign
MBBS Batch 2021 students organized a poster presentation and awareness campaign in the village of Shadipur.
Medical Health Camp
A medical health camp was also conducted in Shadipur, providing essential health services to the villagers.
Master Quiz Competition
A Master Quiz competition, open to all MBBS Batch 2021 students, was organized by Dr. Lakshmi Singh (SR) on July 12 in the Department of Community Medicine.
Villager Awareness Program
Interns from Batch 2019 educated villagers about the harmful effects of overpopulation and common illnesses, along with their treatment and healthcare measures.
Conclusion
The event was a great success under the guidance of Dr. Anju Gahlot, Dr. Aman Kumar, Dr. Lakshmi Singh, Dr. Nilanjan Dam, Dr. Rishabh Kumar, and the interns of the Community Medicine Department.
