World Sight Day 2023 is celebrated by Rama University's Faculty of Paramedical Sciences

Rama University's Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Department of Optometry, celebrated World Sight Day 2023 on October 16th with a resounding commitment to raise awareness about the importance of eye health in the workplace. Under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Brijendra Nigam, the Principal and Dean, the event brought together students, faculty, and experts to focus on safeguarding and improving vision in professional settings.
World Sight Day, observed on the second Thursday of October annually, is dedicated to advocating for eye health and the prevention of blindness. This year, the theme "Love Your Eyes at Workplace" resonated deeply with the university community.
The event featured an insightful Expert Talk and Workshop on "Basics of Low Vision Examination and Management." Students from Bachelor in Optometry (I, II, III year, and Internship) and Diploma in Optometry (I & II year) actively participated, fostering their understanding of essential low vision examination techniques.
Dr. Brijendra Nigam, the Convenor of the event, highlighted, "This World Sight Day, our focus is on helping people understand the importance of protecting their vision in the workplace and calling on business leaders to prioritize the eye health of workers, everywhere."
The program was a collaborative effort involving Bachelor and Diploma students from the Department of Optometry, along with dedicated teaching faculty, including Mr. Satyendra Singh Sachan, Ms. Meghna Verma, and Dr. Ruchika Agarwal. Faculty members from the broader paramedical sciences field also contributed to the event's success.
The agenda primarily revolved around comprehending the significance of basic steps in low vision examination and their effective management. The expert talk was delivered by Mrs. Unnati Vaish, an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Optometry at the School of Optometry in Sitapur, UP. Her insights shed light on the latest developments in the field and the importance of early detection and intervention in low vision cases.
The event took place in the Seminar Hall of the FET Building at Rama University, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with Dr. Brijendra Nigam moderating the sessions. Mr. Satyendra S Sachan, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Optometry, served as the dedicated coordinator, ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
