Anti Ragging Help
Rama University is strictly a no-ragging zone and hence it is mandatory for all students to fill the Anti-ragging Affidavit issued by UPTU and AICTE at the time of admission. By signing on this affidavit the students agree to abide the anti-ragging rules laid down by the University and also agree to the consequences of indulging in such unlawful and unethical practices.
Ragging is strictly banned in the premises of Rama University. If anybody found indulging in such activities, strict action will be taken irrespective of the extent.
What Constitutes Ragging?
- Any misconduct by words: written or spoken and act that has the effect of teasing, rudeness, annoyance, hardship or psychological harm and adversely affects the physique or psyche of fresher or junior students by any senior or batch mates.
- Financial extortion
- Physical and sexual abuse
- Forcing a student to perform an act that leads to sense of shame, torment or embarrassment affecting his/her physique or psyche.
- Any act which prevents/disturbs/disrupts academic activities of student
- Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
- Any act affecting mental health and self-confidence of student with or without any intent to derive a sadistic pleasure showing off power, authority or superiority.
Objectives of the Anti-Ragging Squad
- To ensure absolutely No-Ragging in Rama University.
- To ensure strict disciplinary action against those whose are found to be involved in ragging activities.
- To root out ragging in all its forms from the institution by prohibiting it by law and preventing its occurrence by following the provisions of the Regulations of Supreme Court and UGC.
- Spell out suitable punishments to those found guilty.
Protocol to Report Incidence of Ragging
- A Formal complaint describing the event/act of ragging shall be filed with the Anti-ragging committee/Chairman/ member/ members of anti-ragging squads.
- On receipt of the ragging report, the concerned authority will take prompt action to verify the authenticity of the case.
- If found authentic, the enquiry process will be initiated by the deputed member of the anti-ragging squad committee.
- After a formal enquiry, a detailed report along with applicable punishment shall be forwarded to the Chairman of the committee.
- After the cross-verification by the Chairman, appropriate penalty action which includes fines, rustication, withholding degree or exams or any other suitable penalty will be imposed and executed by the governing body.

The Committee shall entertain and process complaints as per the provisions and guidelines stipulated in UGC regulation No. F.1-16/2007(CPP-II) Dated 17th June, 2009.
National Anti Ragging Help
In order to control and eradicate the occurrence of ragging cases, the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No. 887 of 2009 has issued a guideline for setting up of a Central Crisis Hotline and Anti-Ragging database.
In accordance with the orders, UGC (University Grants Commission), Govt. of India has developed a dedicated web portal to lodge a complaint, track its status, and also to gain access to anti-ragging undertaking.
