Rama University Student Council is a dedicated group of students who come together and collaborate with the Department of Student Welfare (DSW) at Rama University. Constitution
Article I: With Using of University Ordinance
Section 1 Rama University Student Council
The organization shall be known as the Rama University Student Council, hereinafter referred to as the "Council."
Section 2: Purpose
The purpose of the Council is to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, to give opportunities for student experience in leadership, and to encourage student/faculty/community relations. The Council aims to promote the interests of Rama University, work for its development, and enhance the welfare of the students.
Article II: Composition
Section 1: Membership
The Student Council shall consist of the following members:
Dean of Students' Welfare (Chairperson)
Associate Dean of Students' Welfare (Co-Chairperson)
Twenty student members nominated by the Deans of the different Schools of the University.
Five student members nominated by the Deans of Students' Welfare from Sports Societies, Cultural Clubs, and NCC/NSS.
Section 2: Roles and Responsibilities
a) Dean of Students' Welfare:
- The Dean of Students' Welfare shall serve as the Chairperson of the Council.
- The Dean shall provide guidance and support to the Council.
- The Dean shall oversee the implementation of Council initiatives and policies.
b) Associate Dean of Students' Welfare:
- The Associate Dean of Students' Welfare shall serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Council.
- The Associate Dean shall assist the Chairperson in their duties and act as their representative in their absence.
c) Student Members:
- The student members shall actively participate in Council meetings, discussions, and activities.
- They shall represent the interests and concerns of the student body they represent.
- They shall contribute to the development and implementation of Council initiatives and projects.
Article III: Powers and Duties
Section 1: General Powers and Duties
a) The Council shall have the authority to propose and implement policies and initiatives that promote the interests of Rama University and enhance student welfare.
b) The Council shall serve as a platform for student expression, providing opportunities for students to voice their opinions, concerns, and ideas regarding school affairs and activities.
c) The Council shall collaborate with the administration, faculty, and staff of Rama University to foster positive relationships and engage in effective communication.
d) The Council shall encourage student leadership development by organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs.
Section 2: Specific Duties
a) Dean of Students' Welfare:
- The Dean shall provide overall guidance and support to the Council.
- The Dean shall facilitate communication between the Council and the university administration.
- The Dean shall ensure the implementation of Council decisions and initiatives.
b) Associate Dean of Students' Welfare:
- The Associate Dean shall assist the Chairperson in their duties and act as their representative in their absence.
- The Associate Dean shall actively participate in Council activities and contribute to its initiatives.
c) Student Members:
- Student members shall actively engage in Council meetings, discussions, and activities.
- They shall represent the interests and concerns of their respective student bodies.
- They shall actively contribute to the development and implementation of Council projects and initiatives.
Article IV: Meetings
Section 1: Frequency
The Council shall hold regular meetings at least once a month during the academic year. Additional meetings may be called as necessary by the Chairperson.
Section 2: Quorum
A quorum shall be required for the conduct of official business during Council meetings. The quorum shall consist of a majority of the total Council membership.
Section 3: Decision Making
Decisions shall be made by a majority vote of the members present and voting. In the case of a tie, the Chairperson shall have the casting vote.
Positions
President: The president is the leader of the student council and is responsible for overseeing its activities, presiding over meetings, representing the student body, and coordinating with the university administration.
Vice President: The vice president supports the president and takes on their responsibilities in their absence. They may also be assigned specific tasks or projects as determined by the council.
Secretary: The secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate records of council meetings, including minutes and agendas. They handle communication and correspondence, manage official documents, and assist in organizing council events.
Treasurer: The treasurer manages the council's finances, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and handling financial transactions. They work closely with the student council to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
Diversity and Inclusion Officer: The diversity and inclusion officer works to promote inclusivity and diversity on campus. They initiate programs and policies that foster an inclusive environment, organize awareness campaigns, and address issues related to discrimination and equity.
Sustainability Officer: The sustainability officer leads efforts to promote environmentally friendly practices on campus, such as recycling initiatives, energy conservation, and sustainability education campaigns.
Community Engagement Officer: The community engagement officer facilitates connections between the student body and the local community. They organize community service projects, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships with local organizations.
Class Representatives: Class representatives are elected by their respective classes or academic departments to serve as a bridge between the student council and their peers. They gather feedback, communicate important information, and represent the interests of their classmates within the council.
Student Council President: The student council president is a student-elected leader who represents the entire student body. They provide overall leadership, coordinate council activities, and serve as the primary liaison between the council and university administration.
Vice President: The vice president supports the president and may take on additional responsibilities as needed. They often step in for the president in their absence and work closely with other members of the council to execute initiatives.
Secretary: The secretary maintains records of council meetings, including minutes, agendas, and important documents. They help facilitate communication within the council and ensure that all necessary information is properly documented and accessible to members.
Treasurer: The treasurer manages the council's finances, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and handling financial transactions. They are responsible for ensuring financial transparency and accountability within the council.
Public Relations Officer: The public relations officer handles communication and promotion for the student council. They manage social media accounts, create marketing materials, and help raise awareness about the council's activities among the student body.
Event Coordinator: The event coordinator is responsible for planning and organizing various events and activities for students. They work with other council members, clubs, and organizations to ensure successful execution of events that cater to the interests and needs of the student body.
Academic Affairs Representative: The academic affairs representative focuses on matters related to academics, including curriculum development, student feedback on courses, and advocating for student interests in academic policies and decisions.
Welfare Officer: The welfare officer supports student well-being by addressing issues such as mental health, student support services, and overall student welfare on campus. They may organize workshops, awareness campaigns, and initiatives to improve student welfare.
Sports and Recreation Officer: The sports and recreation officer promotes physical activity, sports events, and recreational opportunities for students. They collaborate with sports clubs, organize tournaments, and encourage student participation in sports and fitness activities.
